This black cabinet with integrated desk is designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Bernini. This versatile piece fulfills storage needs as well as it provides a desk that can be hidden when not in use. The cubic cabinet rests on four circular legs. Ten drawers arranged in two similar compartments structure the front. On the upper part a roll top can be pulled back to reveal a desk compartment. A large tabletop with suede inlay can be pulled out too. Drawers in different sizes allow to store stationary. The cabinet is equipped with a glass top. In the back four open shelves allow the user to showcase more objects.
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was born in Padua and studiesd architecture at the Milan Politechnico. After his studies, Frattini started working for Gio Ponti until 1956. Afterwards, he opene his own practice in Milan and began creating his own desgins. His work is mostly part of the generation that created the Italian design movement of the late 1950s through the 1960s. The designer eventually past away in Milan in 2004.
