Geometric Lounge Chair with Ottoman in Wengé
Lounge chair with ottoman, wenge and rope, The Netherlands, 1950s
The geometric lounge chair is executed in wenge and cord. Two materials that combine wonderfully and together form a luxurious, raw aesthetics. This piece, with its rectangular armrests and straight lines feature strong traits of Hein Stolle's design pieces. The aesthetic is also quintessentailly Dutch, modest, simplistic and well made with strict functional tendencies. The straight slat of wenge at the bottom of both the ottoman and the lounge chair are not only useful in a structural way but also contribute to the geometric, sculptural look of this set.
