Gaston Poisson Mahogany Dining Table
Gaston Poisson, dining table, mahogany, France, 1940s.
Majestic centre table in dark brown mahogany. This Art Deco table shows the great craftsmanship of Gaston Poisson. The base and legs are beautifully detailed with carving and woodwork. The rectangular top is plain, which nicely exposes the grain of the mahogany. This table has a sturdy appearance, and is more robust then most Art Deco items. Designers Charles Dudouyt and Gaston Poisson are masters in this style. They combine the more feminine and refined Art Deco style with graphical patterns and masculine elements.
