Gionathan de Pas & Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi for Poltronova, glove chair, cognac leather, 1970s, Italy.
This extraordinary chair is named the 'Joe Seat' and was dedicated to the legendary baseball champion Joe DiMaggio. The giant 'Joe Seat' was designed in 1970 by Italian architects Jonathan de Pas, Donato D'urbino and Paolo Lomazzi. Part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the whimsical chair design is now considered a cult classic. Similar to a baseball glove, this chair is set with the characteristic leather lace and leather web between the thumb and index finger, making the resemblance even more convincing. Besides its unique design, this chair is also very comfortable due to the firm filling in combination with the soft cognac leather upholstery.
