Fully Restored Frits Henningsen Lounge Chair in Original Leather
Frits Henningsen, wingback chair and ottoman, red cognac leather and wood, by Denmark, 1940s.
Classical wingback chair with accompanying footstool in patinated cognac leather. This chair and ottoman hold their original cognac leather upholstery. Therefore an expressive, yet admirable patina is visible on the leather. This is truly a high quality, comfortable lounge chair. Very refined lines and designed with high attention to detail. Beautiful curves are visible on the back, the wings and the armrests. The tapered wooden legs are a nice addition to the whole. This high back chair and ottoman are upholstered in reddish leather. This is the original upholstery. By its age and use this chair shows traces of wear. They create and expressive patina. A nice warm and vibrant color is created due these traces.
Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) was a cabinet maker. Relatively little has been written about this master cabinet maker. He had his own shop in Copenhagen. His main concerns were the users of his furniture and the solid quality of his work. All his works are by his own workshop.
