Fritz Haller for Heinrich Pfalzberger, armchairs, leather, chrome, Switzerland, late 1960s.

Pair of elegant swiss armchairs designed by architect and furniture designer Fritz Haller (1924-2012). These chairs contain a tubular chrome frame, and therefore display an open and light exterior. Firm leather in a warm cognac color is used for the seating, backrest and armrests. It shows a beautiful patina that enriches the overall appearance. On each side, a double leather strap functions as the armrest, hanging nonchalantly between the chrome frame. Special attention is given to the back of the chairs, where thin metal tubes are used to secure the leather around the backrest, a detail that can be seen also underneath the chairs.
