The basic design is well balanced, showing an interesting straight, basket like mahogany frame with is contrasted with the curved mahogany front on each side that gives the sofa a Classic, traditional touch. The sofa shows great attention for proportions, as well as the outstanding craftsmanship Henningsen's work is famous for. The comfort provided by this inviting sofa is very pleasant, which is emphasized by the comforting, embracing frame.
Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) was a cabinet maker. Relatively little has been written about this master cabinet maker. He had his own shop in Copenhagen. His main concerns were the users of his furniture and the solid quality of his work. All his works are by his own workshop.
