Frits Henningsen Lounge Chair in Pastel Upholstery
Frits Henningsen, wingback chair, multicolored pastel fabric, stained beech, Denmark 1930s
This modest yet refined armchair is a classic piece from designer Frits Henningsen. The four legs consist of stained beech. The backrests hold small wings, which runs over into the armrests, and the front shows elegant details and great woodcarving. The seat is thick and creates a comfortable look.
The pastel colored, patterned fabric is in good condition with some signs of age and use. Frits Henningsen (1889-1965) was a cabinet maker. Relatively little has been written about this master cabinet maker. He had his own shop in Copenhagen. His main concerns were the users of his furniture and the solid quality of his work. All his works are by his own workshop.
