French Pair of Art Deco Lounge Chairs in Leather and Pink Silk
Pair of armchairs, silk, leather, brass, birch, France, Circa. 1930.
These beautifully designed lounge chairs are created in one of the most influential periods for the arts namely the Art Deco Movement. These rare lounge chair originate from France and show strong resemblance to the aesthetics of the French designer duo André Domin & Marcel Genevriere and Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann. A rather remarkable design that is based on fluid lines and curvaceous shapes. Notice how the backrest smoothly runs over to the front in a fluent gesture. The rear legs mimic this movement in an opposite way. Another noteworthy feature is the choice of materials that are in great harmony. The frame is executed in a camel leather upholstery, the seat and backrest in a pink silk and the legs are made of birch. Evenly spaced brass nails run along the border, emphasizing the elegant lines of the construction. This pair exemplify the artistry and distinctive craftsmanship of the designer and can therefore be placed in the heart of anyone's interior.
