French Art Deco Credenza in Darkened Oak
Credenza, in oak and metal, France, 1930s.
French Art Deco cabinet in cerused oak with high, sculpted legs. Designers Charles Dudouyt, Jean-Charles Moreux and Gaston Poisson are masters in this style. The front features three dimensional carvings with brass details and contains for doors for storage. The doors on the front are decorated and bordered with a wooden square frame. The shelves on the inside are probably placed by previous owners, since it's finished in a different type of wood and finished with an elegant inlayed pattern. The brass keys and hinges are still original, while the decorative, metal elements on the doors are placed over the years.
