Franz Xaver Sproll, dining table, elm, brass, Switzerland, 1940s
This multifunctional dining table is a creation by Swiss designer Franz Xaver Sproll. In its most compact form design contains a square-shaped top. To expand its size, the top can be unfolded revealing two tops that are connected by brass joints. The distinctive feature of the table lies in its base with four legs expertly carved with an organic touch. An additional, smaller top is affixed underneath offering storage space. The elmwood exhibits a captivating all-over patina, enhancing the table's innate natural charm.
