Franco Poli for Bernini, 'Ulna' dining chairs, walnut, leather, Italy, 1986.
This elegant set of six dining chairs was designed in 1986 by Franco Poli and manufactured by Bernini in the same year. For its eccentric design, Bernini was inspired by the style of the 1950s. Note the flowing lines of the wooden backrest that merge gracefully into the front legs. The division of each leg into two slender pillars, supported by a dark lacquered wooden base, creates a great effect of lightness. The black leather of the seating matches the warm appearance of the walnut structure perfectly.
