Butzke, foldable ‘Bankotte’ stool/side table, stained beech, plastic, metal, Brazil, 1980s

Highly functional ‘Bankotte’ stool manufactured by Butzke in Santa Catarina, Brazil. The round seat with circular gap stands on a x-shaped base. With a simple movement the stool folds together and uses minimal space. Thanks to the round hole the chair can be conveniently hanged up to store away. The ‘Bankotte’ can be used as a stool to sit on but also as a small side table. In the eighties, these types of stools were very popular. Adrien Reed designed an almost identical version of this kind of stool called 'Suzy' for the Princess Design Works.
