Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm Sofa in Brown Leather and Brushed Steel

Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm for Bo-Ex, sofa model BO561, brushed steel and brown leather, Denmark, 1962.

This modern slipper sofa is executed in steel and leather, holding an L-shaped seating. This shape is repeated in the legs. Besides this slick and Minimalist design, this sofa is one of the most comfortable midcentury pieces that we know. The base of this easy chair gives them their characteristic and open character. Most of the furniture of Danish designer duo Fabricius and Kastholm was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International, while the BO561 models were produced in their home country Denmark by Bo-Ex.

Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) became friends in the 1950s at the School of Interior Design. In the 1960s they started a collaboration. Although they have worked also individually, it is as a duo that they have achieved their greatest success. During the eight years of partnership they managed to create a wide selection of very high-quality designs. The results were often minimalistic and functional designs in steel, glass and leather. Most of the furniture of the Danish designer duo was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International.

Please note that the leather is in fair condition with tears, wear, and cracks. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
