Extremely Rare Jens Harald Quistgaard Dining Table in Oak
Jens Harald Quistgaard, dining table, oak, Denmark, 1960s
Danish sculptor and designer Jens Harald Quistgaard (1919-2008) is particularly known for designing kitchenware and tableware. Although consisting of a smaller amount, his oeuvre incorporates home furnishings of excellent quality. This table is a great testament of Quistgaard's brilliance and great craftsmanship. This design is currently extremely rare and therefore hard to find. The table embodies a clear construction that convinces visually through its strong lines and proportions. The leg is carved in a concave shape that bends subtly inwards in the middle. The base that consists of four feet holds the leg in position by means of wood joints. The way Quistgaard has designed the feet by alternating curved lines with straight lines and sharp angles is truly exceptional. In fact, this feature is the defining design element and attests to the excellent quality of this table and the expertise of its maker.
