Eugenio Gerli for Tecno, pair of armchairs, model 'P28', wengé, fabric, Italy, 1958
Eugenio Gerli designed these lounge chairs model 'P28' for the Italian furniture company Tecno in 1958. The frame is characterized by an open and clean construction with sleek, linear lines dominating the layout. This is contrasted by the roundness of the seat and backrest, breaking the strict lines that characterize the overall appearance. Noteworthy detail is the semi-circular shaped backrest that is covered with a soft ocher yellow fabric, providing the needing support for the sitter.
Tecno was founded in 1953 by Osvaldo and Fulgenzio Borsani. The core idea upon which the company was born is the concept of dwellings that function as the foundation on which the quality of life is built. Although Tecno was led by functionalism, aesthetics has never been unimportant. The office world experience had an extreme growth in postwar Italy, and it was mainly to this world that Tecno dedicated their innovative design and craftsmanship.
