Erik Ole Jørgensen for Erik Jorgensen Møbelfabrik, sofa model EJ 315-3, wood and leather, Denmark, 1972
Elegant three-seat sofa by Erik Ole Jørgensen. This sofa has a luxurious appearance due to the tufted cognac leather and the high backrest and same heighted armrests. The orderly placed leather buttons create a beautiful pattern. The natural leather has beautifully aged and shows a nice patina. A wooden frame out of beech lifts the sofa up.
Erik Ole Jørgensen (1925-2002) was originally trained as an upholsterer. Later on he did embarke on the route of becoming a designer himself. In 1944 he graduated from the Design School. This combination of being an upholsterer and designer meant that he designed both furniture and fabrics, including a collaboration with Kaare Klint. His functional furniture with extremely high quality upholstery has put him in the ranks of the best Danish furniture designers.
