Erik Christiansen 'Boomerang' Chairs in Teak
Erik Christiansen for Slagelse Mobelvaerk, 'Boomerang' chairs, teak and yellow fabric, Denmark, 1950s.
Clearly shaped chairs with elegant legs and back. On the sides of the seating there is a boomerang shaped wood construction that ends in the backrest. The chairs seems to exist out of two separate pieces for that reason. The wood has aged beautifully over the years and has a light brown shine over it. The wood joints on the side are worth paying extra attention to as they are formed by means of a 'wave', a delicate detail that fits well with the overall organic soft shapes of the set.
Reupholstery is recently reupholstered in a vibrant yellow fabric that stands out in combination with the patinated teak.
