Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce, floor lamp 'Serpente', bent steel tube, lacquer, perspex, Italy, 1968.
This Italian Classic floor light consist of a tubular frame that rises upwards from the base and ends in an opaline shade. The shade is shade is globe shaped and made of opaline glass. The name, Serpente, is attached to this lamp for obvious reasons as the light resembles the likes of an upwards rising snake. The lamp is extraordinary thanks to its postmodern shape and frivolous aesthetics.
