Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler for Forma, lounge chair, in iron and velvet fabric, Brazil, 1950s.

Elegant and modern armchairs by Brazilian designer duo Hauner & Eisler. The frame is made from thin, elegant wrought iron. Due the diagonal connection and lines and the thin iron of the frame, these lounge chairs get a delicate appearance. The armrest runs are free standing and create a vibrant, dynamic look. The seat itself reclines slightly backwards which give these chairs an extra hint of its playful dynamic appearance. This specific chair has been reupholstered by the experienced craftsmen in our in-house atelier, but we have another piece in stock which is meant to be reupholstered. Our advisors will gladly assist you in selecting a beautiful, high quality fabric to reupholster this chair following your wishes.

Along with many of the most important Brazilian designers, Martin Eisler (1913-1977) was educated in Europe. He studied architecture in Austria after which he moved to Buenos Aires in 1938. In the same year, he founded an architecture firm and organised an exhibition of his furniture. Carlo Hauner (1927-1996), just as Eisler, studied in Europe at the Brera Academy in Milan, Italy. Once arrived in Brazil, after 1948, he dedicated himself to textile, ceramics, furniture and architecture. Eisler and Hauner met in 1953, a little while after Hauner founded Moveís Artesenal, a production company. Together they started Galeria Artesenal, a store to accompany Moveís Artsenal. Hauner and Eisler’s designs are characterized by their use of native woods to Brazil such accompanied by thin tubular frames.
