Martin Eisler & Carlo Hauner for Forma, easy chair, mahogany, fabric and steel, Brazil, 1960s.
This ‘Bone’ chair is designed by Brazilian designer duo Eisler and Hauner. This chair is iconic for Brazilian Mid-Century Modern, from the 1960s. This particular piece is executed with a black coated steel frame and wooden slats in mahogany and lacquered in a vibrant green color. The slats are straight in the middle and curved towards the ends and rhythmic positioned in a line.
Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were both born in Europe, Italy and Germany respectively, and immigrated to Brazil after World War Two. They were both very much invested in the modern Brazilian utopia of creating a better world.
