This set of eight grand armchairs by Edward Wormley designed in 1957 consists of a black lacquered frame and red leather upholstery; a striking combination of color. The clear, angular lines give these chairs a strong appearance. Special attention has been given to the joinery, as visible in the base of the chairs. The chair's feet are furnished with brass caps, and combine beautifully with the black color of the frame.
Mobilier Universel had the sole right to produce furniture for Dunbar. Jules Wabbes, at that time still very much involved with Mobilier Universel, picked the desired models designed bu Edward Wormley for manufacturing. The designs that Wabbes choose from Wormley's collection were those that featured a simplistic, clean lines that would prove the be timeless.
