Dutch Set of Six 'Bastille' Chairs by Piet Blom 1968
Rare 'Bastille' chairs, in lacquered wood, by Piet Blom, the Netherlands, 1968.
This sculptural set was originally designed for the University of Twente which was nicknamed the 'Bastille'. The chairs were designed in 1968 and only produced in an edition of 400 pieces, yet fewer than 200 survived a renovation. Only a handful retained their original red and black paint, of which this is a rare set of eight pieces.
