Dining Table in Marble and Metal Attributed to Ignazio Gardella
Attributed to Ignazio Gardella, dining table, marble, brass, metal, Italy, circa 1958
Breathtaking round dining or center table that convinces through the stunning mix of materials and colors used. A circular pedestal table with a refined black lacquered metal base with brass accent. The black base in combination with the tripod foot in patinated brass is characteristic for the geometric work of Ignazio Gardella. The round marble top shows a range of rich colors, from beige to caramel tones, and forms a striking combination with the base, and a true gem to add to an interior.
Ignazio Gardella (1905-1999) was an Italian designer and architect. He grew up in a Genovese family of architects since both his father and grandfather were also renowned architects. Today, Gardella is considered as a prominent member of the so-called third generation of the Italian Modern Movements, as well as the Italian Rationalism. During his career, he was a successful furniture and lighting designer and co-founder of the design and furniture manufacturing company Azucena.
