Dining Set with Giuseppe Rivadossi Table and Augusto Savini 'Pamplona' Chairs
Stunning dining set consisting a Giuseppe Rivadossi dining table and four 'Pamplona' dining chairs by Augusto Savini
Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi, table, walnut, iron, Italy, 1970s
Giuseppe Rivadossi once again proves his great eye for materialization and technicality this table is exemplary for. The walnut tabletop of this design is gracefully supported by two angular wooden bases, connected by a striking arrangement of blackened iron rods. This structural interplay not only ensures stability but also serves as a bold aesthetic statement, merging form with function. Rivadossi’s meticulous craftsmanship is seen in the hand-planed walnut surface, where each groove and contour marks the hand of the artist. The thoughtful treatment of the wood, combined with the industrial solidity of iron, creates a harmonious blend of elements.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he continues to live and work. His journey with wood carving began at a young age, each piece embodying his poetic vision of life. In 1962, Rivadossi took over the carpentry business founded by his father, Clemente, in 1920, transforming it into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. In 1976, Rivadossi and his collaborators established ‘Officina Rivadossi’, where he began crafting unique wooden objects and modern furniture, blending artistry with craftsmanship.
Augusto Savini for Pozzi 'Pamplona' dining chairs, lacquered wood, fabric, Italy, 1960s
'Pamplona' armchairs in red lacquered wood and red textured upholstery. A characteristic design by Augusto Savini for Pozzi; simplistic yet very strong in lines and proportions. Wonderful dynamic frame, starting from the front leg which runs over into the armrests and ends in the rear leg. The red upholstery makes a striking combination with the red wooden frame. Aluminum connections on the back emphasize the sleek and modern expression of the chairs. Altogether this is a great set of iconic Italian dining chairs from the 1960s.
