Mariano Fortuny, chandelier ‘Icaro’, silk, fibre, metal, brass, cord, Italy, designed 1920s

This elegant ‘Icaro’ chandelier by Mariano Fortuny was designed around 1920. It has a theatrical expression and atmospheric light. Three layers of shades are held in place with thin cords. The floating shape results in a thin, pointy end with a brass element to which initially a glass pearl was attached.

Please note that the electric system is not original anymore.
