Sale price$3,850.00

Gionathan de Pas & Donato D’Urbino & Paolo Lomazzi for Ampaglas, 'Shaula' lounge chair, ABS plastic, expanded polyurethane, fabric, Italy, 1970s

Gionathan de Pas & Donato D’Urbino & Paolo Lomazzi, the notorious Italian designer trio, introduced this quirky design which is produced by Ampaglas in the seventies. The design adheres to a rather unconventional shape typical for that period with its round, bulky shapes and disproportioned dimensions. The foundation is constructed from ABS in a dark brown color, a durable plastic frequently used in furniture design of this period. The chair is accompanied with a padded cushion with a single unbroken form in the color green. This chair is made to reach an ultimate level of comfort as can clearly be recognized in the design. This design aesthetic not only reflects the new production technology of the time, but also captures the redefinition of mobility in the 1960s-70s, which was driven by the desire for a playful and relaxed environment.

Kindly note that this chairs is in good, used condition. The frames contain scratches and wear marks, and the fabric is worn and discolored. Reupholstery and restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery and restoration is possible as well.
