Danish Mahogany Pair of Armchairs
Set of two armchairs, mahogany, fabric and cane, Denmark, 1950s.
This elegant pair of chairs is designed by a Danish cabinetmaker in the 1950s. The armchairs feature curved armrests that flow over in the wooden legs. The small the cane backrest in combination with the lacquered wood give these chairs a colonial feeling. The small bowls at the top of the armrest is a playful detail. The tapered wooden legs are a nice addition to the whole. This design shows strong influences of the design of Frits Henningsen.
