Danish Cabinetmaker Three-Seat Mahogany Sofa
Danish cabinetmaker, fabric, mahogany, Denmark, 1950s.
This free-standing three-seat sofa with has eight profiled mahogany legs. The sofa is upholstered with a white and green checked fabric. The sofa features ornate forms and shapes and holds a geometric, rigid mahogany frame. The base consists of eight legs in oak with cross-connections, which create a beautiful rhythm. The base is thus architectural and puritan. The sloping armrests and clear divisional lines traits of and trademarks of Kaare Klint's aesthetics. Characteristic is the straight and clean shape that is stately and aristocratic.
