Ole Wanscher for A.J. Iversen, set of eight armchairs, red patinated leather, walnut, Denmark, circa 1945

Set of eight elegant dining chairs in walnut, designed by Ole Wanscher and produced by A.J. Iversen. These chairs show a combination of classical 18th century chairs with Danish Modern aesthetics, which is characteristic for Ole Wanscher. The wood frame shows beautiful carved armrests that has beautiful lines. The wood has a warm honey color, which matches very well with the original red leather.

Ole Wanscher (1903-1985) was educated as an architect under the guidance of Kaare Klint and later came to teach architecture at the Royal Danish Academy himself. Whilst his background was in architecture, he laid great importance on construction and the impact of form on space. He also came to be influenced by the new techniques of producing high-quality furniture on an industrial scale. So, the idea of creating furniture for everyone, was something that Wanscher was familiar with, yet his most exquisite and iconic designs are made by the hands of the best cabinet makers in Denmark. It is therefore that this Danish master has left a legacy of classic, durable and highly refined pieces.

Please note that the leather shows signs of wear and use as well as patina. Restoration is needed before shipping. Reupholstery is possible too.
