Jørgen Kastholm & Preben Fabricius for Kill International, four-seat sofa, leather, steel, Denmark, 1960s.
Large sofa in patinated cognac leather by Fabricius and Kastholm. The base of this sofa gives a characteristic and open character. Moreover, this sofa features the comfort of Danish Mid-Century Modern design. The cushions support the body in an unmatched way. This sofa breathes Scandinavian design all-over, due to its minimalistic character, combined with comfort and architectural aesthetics. The leather shows patina and sings of age and use, both add up to the unique value of the sofa.
Preben Juhl Fabricius (1931-1984) and Jørgen Kastholm (1931-2007) became friends in the 1950s at the School of Interior Design. In the 1960s they started a collaboration. Although they have worked also individually, it is as a pair that they have achieved their greatest success. During the eight years of partnership they managed to create a wide selection of very high quality designs. The results were often minimalistic and functional designs in steel, glass and leather. Most of the furniture of the Danish designer duo was produced by the German manufacturer Kill International.
