Guglielmo Pecorini, high back lounge chair, ash wood, leather, brass, Italy, 1950s

Wonderfully sculpted chair with expressive patinated leather. This design by Italian designer Guglielmo Pecorini combines round forms with angular shapes in a striking way. Also did Pecorini use each functional element of his design to underline his unique talent. Per example the way the two organic short armrests are placed has aesthetical but very much decorative thoughts too. The high backrest with wing-like sides adds an almost theatrical touch to the design. Both the back and seat are made of leather that is ending in straps and attached to the frame with brass nails.
Originally the chair was designed for the VII Triennale di Monza in 1937.
