Carlo de Carli, pair of lounge chairs model 802, red leatherette, brass, Italy, 1950s

Very elegant pair of lounge chairs by Italian designer Carlo de Carli. On four round and tapered nickel-plated brass legs rests the seat. The design is characterized by the dynamic line that runs all the way from the backrest down and functions as armrest before ending at the legs. The red leatherette upholstery highlights the chair and invites to take a seat.

Carlo de Carli (1910-1999) was born in 1910 in Milan and became an important architect and designer in the 1940s and 1950s working together with Gio Ponti. He became a keen exponent of Italian furniture bringing it to the international market.
