Carl Gustaf Hiort (1911-1996) was a Finnish-Swedish interior designer who was based in Helsinki. Hiort was the head of his own production company, Puunveisto, in Helsinki from the 1940-1970s. Hiort payed much attention to detail and to craftwork, he was a strong advocate of handcrafted furniture of high quality, much like Danish furniture of the same period. Technique wise, he was ahead of his time as he worked with new materials such as plywood at a very early stage.
