Carl-Axel Acking for Nordiska Kompaniet, 'Trienna' chairs, stained oak, leather, Sweden, 1957

These characteristic lounge chairs are designed by the Swedish architect and furniture designer Carl-Axel Acking in 1957 and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet. The name of the chair 'Trienna' has derived from the fact that it was displayed at the 11th Triennale di Milano in 1957. A frame in oakwood with strong lines keeps the leather seat and backrest in place. Brass nails are used to fixate the patinated brown leather. This pair of ‘Trienna’ lounge chairs gives a wonderful example of Scandinavian Modern design.
