Sideboard, in oak and aluminum, Europe, 1970s.
Large Brutalist credenza in ebonized oak with graphical designed door panels. Five-door panels, each with a three-dimensional pattern of squares, which gives the cabinet a very strong expression. The aluminum strips on top and bottom of the front emphasize the wide and graphical character of this cabinet. The masculine and wide sideboard is equipped with shelves and some drawers so it provides plenty of storage space which makes this a very versatile item.
Brutalism is an architectural style started from the mid-20th century, aiming for raw, geometric and compromise-less buildings. Characterized by blatant concrete-skeletons with geometric patterns and Puritan materials. In decorative arts brutalism is highly represented in furniture design.
Please note that the sideboard is in good, used condition, with small chips of veneer missing. This can be restored in our in-house atelier.
