ESC Zukov, wall lights, model 213, bakelite, opaline glass, Czech Republic, 1950s
These well-designed wall lights show a solid construction built off a black fixture executed in bakelite while holding two cylindrical shades in opaline glass, which results in a soft and warm light radiation. Moreover, the fixture has a functional property which means that the lamp can be adjusted in vertical or horizontal direction. An exquisite combination of materials resulting in a vivid expression. The Bauhaus inspired wall lamps by Czech manufacturer ESC Zukov were produced right after World War Two. It shows strong resemblance to Bauhaus architect Wilhelm Wagenfeld’s wall lamp 6040, yet these lamps differ in materials and proportions.
