Auke Komter for Metz & Co Armchair circa 1930s
Auke Komter for Metz & Co, chair, beech plywood and beech, The Netherlands, 1930s.
This stately chair is made from a solid beech frame with bend plywood shell that flows from the seat to the back. Komter was inspired by the designs of Alvar Aalto and began experimenting with the materials and techniques. The experimental designs are only produced in very small amounts. This chair is made in a very small edition an is therefore rare to find.
