Atelier C. Demoyen Extendable Dining Table in Solid Elm
Atelier C. Demoyen, extendable dining table, solid elm, France, 1970s
Atelier C. Demoyen (Claude de Moyen) gained prominence as a workshop recognized for crafting, among others, Pierre Chapo's designs. Consequently, their own furniture creations bear the hallmark of impeccable craftsmanship and the use of premium quality materials. Situated in a small French municipality of Moncel-lès-Lunéville, their operations commenced around 1976. Their body of work is distinguished by the primary utilization of solid wood, expertly constructed through intricate wood joinery techniques. The present table is a striking example of this approach. Crafted from solid elmwood, the table exhibits a refined design that is both sleek and contemporary in appearance. The table features an oval-shaped top with smooth round edges. Box-joints are visible along the edge, showcasing the mastery of the craftsman. The base is comprised of four carved legs with a thick structure. The top can be extended by means of additional leafs. All together, this piece stands as a genuine masterpiece, excelling not just in its functionality but also in its aesthetic excellence.
Width of the table when not extended: 184,5 cm / 72,65 inches.
