Art Deco Dudouyt Pedestal Side Table in Oak

$1,250.00

Charles Dudouyt, side table, oak, 1940s, France.

Side table designed by Charles Dudouyt. As many of the furniture designed by this designer this side table has a strong and bold character in both the base and top. It features a geometric pattern on the top. The trestle pedestal leg is very sculptural and this is another trademark of the early design by Charles Dudouyt. A table in this style and smaller size is special to find and easy to fuse in an interior.

Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) was a French designer and illustrator. In 1933, he moved to Paris where he abandoned the French classicism to opt for modernist sensibility. He mostly crafted wooden furniture in strong Art Deco forms, often using playful geometries and construction methods. His usage of an honest approach to simple materials such as wood, reminds of the robust Arts and Crafts Movement.
