Antonio Cassi Ramelli, case piece, walnut, brass, Italy, 1940s

This elegant Art Deco case piece is designed by the Italian designer Antonio Cassi Ramelli; a contemporary of Paulo Buffa and whom he collaborated with during the early period of his career. Truly striking about this piece is the way Ramelli designed the vertical lining in the walnut woodwork. Also special is the repetition in the four legs of this piece, the beautifully executed base of which the legs slightly bend inwards. Three doors with each a brass handle in the shape of a double tailed mermaid lead to a spacious interior with shelving.
