Antonin Suman for TON, set of twelve armchairs, model E4309, lacquered wood, fabric, Czech Republic, 1977
A set of twelve dining chairs that were designed by Antonin Suman and manufactured by TON. These chairs feature a wonderful bentwood frame finished in black lacquer. Engraved rings add a subtle detail to the frame.
TON was founded after World War Two in former Thonet factories and continued with the furniture making tradition set up by Thonet. In the 1960s, TON asked various architects to contribute to research and developments of new designs using the technology of bentwood and leading to new, more contemporary designs.
