Set of ten dining chairs by the Italian designer couple Tobia and Afra Scarpa. These chairs have a cubic and architectural appearance. The base consists of four straight, flat legs, which provide and open look. The seating and back are beautifully shaped and slightly curved. These chairs are very well detailed and feature various original design elements such as the gap in the lower back and the extension of the back below the seat. These particular chairs are made in a rich cognac leather. Please note that this set of ten chairs are compiled, hence there can be small differences visible in the patina of the wood and or leather.
Afra (1937-2011) and Tobia (1935-) Scarpa both studied on the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini. From 1960 on the couple opened their own design office. Their work includes architecture and everyday items like furniture and clothing. Tobia & Afra designed for numerous major Italian and international companies like Flos, Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International and many interior projects for numerous companies worldwide.
