Adrian Pearsall, 'Platform' sofa with two drawers, model 1709-S, leather upholstery, walnut, United States, 1960s
Adrian Pearsall is known for his rather unique sofa designs. The '1709-S' is no exception. On a low base of a thick walnut frame rests the sofa flanked with two drawers at the side. Ending on the same height like the seat the top of the drawer’s function as side tables. The seating itself shows a great, open character. With the absence of armrests Pearsall accomplished a flowing look with sensuous lines. Recently reupholstered in forest green leather that forms a great combination with the natural appearance of the wooden color and grain.
