Gionathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino & Paolo Lomazzi for Zanotta, 'settebello' modular sofa, fabric, polyurethane, Italy, 1974

A postmodern design by Gionathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino & Paolo Lomazzi created in 1974 for Zanotta. Design in the seventies was all about going beyond the strict conventions of modernism, with the exploration of the different qualities of materials, use of pop colors, and peculiar & symbolic appearances as outcome. In the design world of the 1970s, it was commonplace to see sectional sofas featuring a soft, bulky layout and rendered in the most vibrant colors. This seamless seating system consists of ten elements, six of which are green and four of which are brown. The designers came up with an original idea by creating an element that serves as both the seat and backrest. The elements are affixed to one another through a section of fabric that remains securely in position. This innovative feature provides ample opportunity to experiment with diverse configurations. Each element is accentuated by double stitching in the upholstery. Maximum comfort is guaranteed by means of the thick seating cushions and the large seats.

Please note that the fabric on some of the green elements has faded due to sun exposure. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
