1940s Italian Free Standing Writing Desk in Grissinato in Walnut and Brass
Free-standing writing desk, walnut, brass, Italy, 1940s
Crafted in Italy, this writing table originates from around the 1940s. The design is truly magnificent, featuring a crescent-shaped framework of considerable size executed with a defined arrangement of geometrical elements. Made from grissinato walnut, the sides of this piece is marked by a striking layout of horizontal carved lines. Of particular note is the niche observable along the side, aligning with the overall architectural appearance of the table. These mentioned stylistic elements bear a striking resemblance to the work of Gio Ponti. Two compartments, each with four drawers, are added on both sides, with an additional larger drawer at its center. The table stands on a decorative base with an undulating platform, breaking the sharp lines that characterize the body.
