Gianfranco Frattini for Acerbis Nesting Tables 'Tria' in Black

Sale price$1,450.00

Gianfranco Frattini for Acerbis, set of three 'Tria' nesting tables, lacquered wood, Italy, 1980s

A set of three nesting tables by the Italian designer Gianfranco Frattini. Each table consists of a semi-circled tabletop in black lacquered wood. The base mimics the shape of the top, which contributes to a unified whole. The tables have different heights, which makes it easy to place the tables below each other to form a side table. This playful design is an example of Italian Postmodernism.

Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was born in Padua and studied architecture at the Milan Politechnico. After his studies, Frattini started working for Gio Ponti until 1956. Afterwards, he opened his own practice in Milan and began creating his own designs. His work is mostly part of the generation that created the Italian design movement of the late 1950s through the 1960s. The designer eventually died in Milan in 2004.
