Arne Vodder for Bovirke Writing Desk in Teak and Brass

Sale price$9,700.00

Arne Vodder for Bovirke, desk 'model BO85', teak, brass, Denmark, 1950s

This teak writing desk was designed by Arne Vodder for Bovirke. The table has an organically shaped table top with raised edges. An angular cabinet with three drawers equipped with brass handles and the slim base construction contrast with the free-form table top.

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be named among the most influential Scandinavian Midcentury designers, although he is not as well-known as for instance Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. Once a student of famous furniture designer Finn Juhl, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started out as an architect who designed low-cost housing, later on, he began designing furniture. Although his designs are anything but low-quality, his aim for functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed amongst others for Fritz Hansen & Sibast.
