Giuseppe Rivadossi, nightstands in teak, 1980s, Italy
Pair of nightstands designed by the Italian sculptor and designer Giuseppe Rivadossi. This excellent set features a high level of craftsmanship in woodwork. The stunning herringbone pattern on the two front panels of the drawers are completely carved with gouge cut, which gives this piece its distinctive aesthetics that Rivadossi is known for. Extraordinary pieces, established by intensive hand-planed and trimmed finishes.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962 Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
